Red River BBQ and Grill Society Championship Cook-Off

For the first time in the Pembina Region, Red River BBQ and Grill Society will be hosting a Backyard BBQ competition.

The Red River Barbecue & Grill Society (RRBGS) was formed in 2019 by a like-minded group of outdoor BBQ and Grilling enthusiasts looking to promote 'southern' style barbecue, grilling and all other forms of outdoor cooking. Their goal is to organize family friendly events and contests all while supporting Manitoba agricultural products primarily beef, pork and chicken and help grow BBQ in Manitoba.

Backyard BBQ competitions are not held in someone’s back yard. This is a large event, with the reference to “backyard” just means non professional ie: the average back yard cook who does this as a hobby, but think their BBQ is the best!

This is a great opportunity for novice and competition curious individuals within our community to test out their BBQ talents, bust out their secrets sauces and rubs and be scored by Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS) trained judges.

These events will have prizes, awards and sponsorships.

While at the fair, visitors are welcome to come by and talk to the teams and see what competition BBQ is about. They will be happy to answer any questions you may have about BBQ and smoking meat. Come join us at the fair on Saturday, July 13!

Arts , Crafts and Horticulture

Sponsored by Homestead Co-op

Our Exhibit Hall is for everyone! We have a huge selection of arts, crafts, and handiworks; plus baking, canning, and gardening items. Students also have a special spot to show off their projects and art from the past school year.

Kids can enter their Lego and finger-painting creations, and teenagers can show off their photography, sewing, or woodworking skills. Did Uncle Joe teach you how to weld? Did Aunt Mary share her gardening tips with you? We’d love to see what you can do! Grandparents and Adults who are 60+ have a senior section all to themselves, which includes classes such as crafts, woodworking and quilting. For you parents, it’s time to have a mini bake-off and find out who bakes the best cookies! Whatever it is you like to make, we love to see your creations and are sure you will find a class to enter it!

*For those without a printer, physical copies of Exhibit books are available at Toews and Mama Bear Quilt Shop
